These downloadable PDF files cover the 1967-1972 Chevrolet and GMC, US and Canada, VIN Decode diagrams with all the square boxes and arrow pointers often seen in various GM manuals and literature decoding the VIN number.
Our 1967-1972 GM truck decode diagram PDF's are the cool "exploded" view VIN decode diagrams often found in various GM manuals and literature.
The documentation found in various GM manuals can often contain errors and contradictions. After writing our YaVD VIN and Model Decoder, we then created these charts based on our findings of sifting through the manuals and comparing them to the VIN formats used from our collection of Service Parts Identification labels, Vehicle Certification labels, Serial Plates, Build Sheets, Protect-O-Plates and Dealer paperwork for what was actually used in these years.
We have produced corrected and updated versions of these diagrams based on our research that your can download here. Even though the diagrams are for Series 10-30, often the VIN format extends upwards into the Series 40-60, sometimes heavier truck series, but we didn't want to overload the diagrams with all possible values for that range of Series or GVWR classes.
We have to throw in our own disclaimer on this too, being that it seems that nothing is consistent with GM in these years, we are quite confident we have the VIN formats correct and accurate, but I leave it a possibility that there are other freak and oddball instances out there not seen or referenced in some obscure manual or vehicle that is not included in the diagrams !
