If your car is a 1970 through 1975 model, you can finish off your missing door decal with one of ours.
We can duplicate the printing as the factory did originally for your vehicle plant and year usage printed via impact printer, stamped, by typewriter, or a combination thereof that was used by the factory in printing these labels.
What is a simple label in design and usage should be simple to accurately reproduce, is not. Things to consider with these labels are:
Label positioning of the information
The GM Factory Assembly manual technical drawings specify the location on the label where the information is supposed to be placed, but this not always done by the factory so the placement can vary by plant to plant and year to year. The years 1970-1971 are the most problematic and messy to to get right.
Use of different printing typefaces
Another problem is that GM used various equipment in 1970-1971 to print the information onto the labels. Not labels all are printed using impact printers and this can vary by plant to plant and year to year.
Here's what we can do:
Use layouts based on actual use: We have a good size collection of these 1970-1975 blue door certification labels from many manufacturing plants. We have studied them and have built our findings into our online order entry system. So if you are missing yours completely, our order entry system will attempt to correctly build and layout a new one for you. We can make changes during production to match an original if our order entry system encounters something we have never seen before.
Our order entry system will also optionally let you create your label layout according to GM's Factory Assembly Manual specifications so you can "do it by the book". By default, our order entry system will layout and position your information on the label as it was done by your manufacturing plant for that year (and sometimes month) when that information is available. Our order entry system will let you switch back and forth between factory spec's or the default leaving it up to you to decide how you want it done.
Use correct equipment with correct typefaces: Our order entry system also knows about what typefaces and equipment was used to print the information on the label and is automatically selected based on your VIN number. We have the correct equipment to reproduce the way your label was originally made via stamping, typewriter, or impact printers. In creating each reproduction Vehicle Certification label, we do not use ink or laser printers in any part of our work. Each label is impact printer printed, stamped or typed as required. You get the same exact look as the factory.
Also, our order entry system is an online WYSIWYG order entry system with image previews and movement controls allowing you to, when applicable, move, rotate, and position the Date and VIN location on the label to match your original if you have it handy! We then do our best to create the label with the information based on what you have entered.
What our order entry system does not know, it will prompt you to make the choice. For example, concerning the date of manufacture: did the month have a leading zero or not on it? Does the date use a slash or a dash for a separator? What typeface was used for the Date? We have those characteristics built into our order entry system but will prompt you if it doesn't know.
A clear protective overlaminate is pre-applied: Some vendor labels send you an incorrectly sized overlaminate, or one with square corners, or too thick and stiff. To finish off the label correctly, we apply a quality commercial grade polyester plastic overlaminate to the label that is 1 mil. thick, optically clear; solvent, humidity, abrasive and UV resistant, with permanent adhesive that has high bonding strength. We then cut and trim it to the correct size for that label with correct rounded corners assembled onto a removable liner for an all-in-one "peel-n-stick" application to your door. This allows for a no mistake, bubble free, no wrinkled label or overlaminate, or misaligned for a great looking application.
Disclaimer: although we have a good size collection of these labels, we do not have labels from all plants/all years/all months and never will. For those plants and years that we have not seen, the default is to layout the information according to the Factory Assembly Manual specifications. If our order entry system should not be able to format the information on it according to your original, not to worry, we can customize and setup our equipment to match your layout needs at no additional charge for tweaks or customization.

Description:
1976 GM Door Certification Door Label, Car
Supplier:
Jim Osborn Reproductions Inc.
Origin:
Made in USA
Dimensions:
3-9/16" X 2-1/16" inches
OEM Part No.:
GM 354048
This label is for 1976 passenger car usage, but it has been seen in use as early as March/April 1975 on late 1975 production vehicles, thus creating a transition from the 1970-1975 blue decal to the white decal in the spring of '75.
It is unknown if it was a clean cut-over at all plants during the spring of '75.
We have seen these used on late 1975 production vehicles:
A - Atlanta Pontiac's
D - Doraville Olds 442's
Q - Detroit Cadillac's
S - St. Louis Corvette's
U - Detroit/Hamtramck Vega's
Y - Wilmington Buick's
If your vehicle is spring 1975 produced, you will have to determine which label is proper, the blue or the white.
This label is a plastic film-like label with a white coating on top with light gray shaded area boxes where your car information goes. That area is suppose to be the translucent plastic film part of the underlying label like the factory OEM, but it is not.
After printing each label we apply a clear coat spray to the label to protect your vehicle information from the elements and from any smearing of the ink.
